Everything we take on

Every job below is one we do ourselves across Miami Gardens.

Deck Installation

We frame new decks with pressure-treated joists set 16 inches on center and tie the structure down with hurricane straps rated for our wind zone. Footings go below grade to the depth Miami-Dade code calls for, not just deep enough to look right. We'll walk you through decking material before we pour a single footing.

Deck Repair

Soft boards, wobbly stairs, loose railings, we fix what's actually broken instead of pushing a full rebuild you don't need. A lot of repair calls come down to a rotted ledger board or joist hangers that rusted out. We replace the failed part and check the framing around it while we're in there.

Deck Staining & Sealing

Florida sun and afternoon rain are hard on exposed wood, and an unsealed deck will gray and start splitting within a couple of seasons. We pressure wash, let the boards dry fully, then apply a stain and sealer rated for UV and moisture. Composite decking doesn't need this, which is worth knowing before you commit to wood.

Custom Deck Design

Some yards need a multi-level deck to work around a slope or a pool equipment pad, not a straight rectangle off the back door. We'll sketch the layout with you, figure out stair placement and railing runs, and price it before anything gets ordered.

Composite Decking Installation

Composite boards don't rot, splinter or need restaining, which matters if you don't want a yearly maintenance chore. We still frame underneath with treated lumber and proper joist spacing, because composite decking is only as good as what's holding it up. Brands and price points vary a lot, so we'll go over the options with you.

Deck Railing Installation & Repair

Railings have to hold up to someone leaning their full weight on them, so loose posts and rotted balusters aren't a cosmetic problem. We rebuild to code height and baluster spacing, whether that's wood, aluminum or cable rail.

Deck Resurfacing

If the frame underneath is solid but the boards on top are shot, resurfacing swaps the decking without touching the structure. It's faster and cheaper than a full rebuild, and it's a good option for a deck that's maybe ten to fifteen years old.

Screened-In Deck & Porch Additions

Screening in a deck cuts down on mosquitoes and no-see-ums without losing the outdoor feel, which matters here more than in most places. We frame the enclosure to tie into the existing deck structure and handle the screen and door hardware.

Deck Waterproofing & Under-Deck Drainage

An elevated deck can double as covered space underneath if you waterproof the underside and route water off to one side instead of letting it drip through. We install under-deck drainage systems that channel water away and keep whatever's below dry.

Pergolas & Deck Shade Structures

A pergola or shade structure over part of the deck cuts down on how hot the boards get in direct sun, especially with composite decking. We build them to tie into the existing deck framing rather than as a separate structure standing on its own footings.

How It Works

Four steps, and no surprises in any of them.

01

We come and look

You tell us what you want doing, we look at what is actually there, and we ask the awkward questions early.

02

You get a price

In writing, itemised, free. If something might add cost later we flag it now rather than at the end.

03

We do the work

Same crew throughout. We cover your floors, keep the dust down and tidy up before we leave each day.

04

We walk it with you

You point out anything you are not happy with and we fix it before the invoice, not after.

Common Questions

Things worth asking

Questions that come up once a deck project is actually underway.

Do I need a permit to build a deck in Miami-Dade County?
Most elevated decks and any deck attached to the house require a building permit in Miami-Dade County, along with engineered plans for the high-velocity hurricane zone. Low, freestanding decks under a certain height sometimes fall under simpler rules, but it's worth confirming before assuming a permit isn't needed.
How long does it take to build a deck?
A standard ground-level deck typically takes one to two weeks from framing to finished decking, not counting permit approval time beforehand. Multi-level decks, screened enclosures or anything with custom railing can run longer.
Can you build a deck to fit a specific budget?
Decking material is usually the biggest lever on price, so switching from composite to pressure-treated pine or simplifying the railing design can bring a project in under budget. A written quote breaks out material and labor separately so it's clear where the cost is coming from.
Do you guarantee your deck work?
Workmanship on framing, decking installation and railings is guaranteed against defects, and decking material typically carries its own manufacturer warranty. Warranty terms depend on the material chosen and come with the written quote.
Who will I be dealing with once the project starts?
One point of contact handles scheduling and questions for the length of the project, rather than a different person answering the phone each time. That same person is reachable if something comes up mid-build.
What decking materials do you work with?
Pressure-treated southern yellow pine, capped composite decking and PVC decking are all standard options, each with different upfront cost and maintenance down the line. Composite and PVC cost more initially but skip the yearly staining that pressure-treated wood needs.
Can I still use my yard while the deck is being built?
Most of the yard stays usable during a deck build, though the immediate work area has to stay clear for safety and material staging. Access through the work zone may be limited for a day or two during framing and decking.
How should I prepare my yard before deck construction starts?
Clearing furniture, grills and potted plants from the work area beforehand speeds up setup, and any sprinkler heads or buried lines near the footing locations should be flagged ahead of time. Everything else, including layout stakes and material staging, gets handled on-site.
What happens if you find rot or damage once the old deck comes down?
Hidden rot in ledger boards, joists or posts sometimes only shows up once the old decking is stripped off, and that gets flagged before any new material goes down over it. Any extra repair work gets priced separately and approved before proceeding, not added to the bill as a surprise.
How do I take care of a new deck once it's finished?
Pressure-treated wood decking should be resealed roughly every one to two years depending on sun exposure, while composite decking mainly just needs periodic washing. Keeping planters and furniture from sitting directly on wet boards long-term also helps prevent staining and trapped moisture.
